CVE-2026-43170

Published: 2026-05-06 12:16:35

Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc3: gadget: Move vbus draw to workqueue context Currently dwc3_gadget_vbus_draw() can be called from atomic context, which in turn invokes power-supply-core APIs. And some these PMIC APIs have operations that may sleep, leading to kernel panic. Fix this by moving the vbus_draw into a workqueue context.

/* * PoC for CVE-2026-43170: Triggering atomic context sleep in dwc3 * This is a conceptual demonstration. On a vulnerable system, * interacting with the USB gadget power settings can trigger a crash. */ #include <stdio.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <stdlib.h> #define GADGET_PATH "/sys/class/udc/" // Example path, varies by system int main() { printf("Attempting to trigger CVE-2026-43170...\n"); // In a real scenario, this would involve specific ioctl calls or // sysfs writes that trigger dwc3_gadget_vbus_draw from an atomic context. // For example, rapid state changes or power draw requests. int fd = open(GADGET_PATH, O_WRONLY); if (fd < 0) { perror("Failed to open gadget interface"); return 1; } // Simulate triggering the vbus draw logic // Note: Actual reproduction requires specific hardware and kernel config. write(fd, "trigger", 7); close(fd); printf("Check dmesg for kernel panic or 'Scheduling while atomic'.\n"); return 0; }
